Energy Audit
Energy Audits that are performed in compliance with Austin’s Energy Conservation Audit and Disclosure (ECAD) ordinance are conducted on houses to determine their overall energy efficiency. The audit will address your house as a system and will inform you of ways to improve the way your home uses energy. Your auditor can then recommend upgrades that can be made to your home to lower your energy usage and your monthly bills.
The Austin Audit consists of:
General Information: Address of property, number of levels, year built, conditioned square feet, foundation type and existing heat.
Solar Shading (Square Feet): Number of square feet of window area and direction they’re facing, number of sky lights and amount of glass area that would require solar shading.
Insulation: Attic floor square footage, insulation type, R-Value of attic components (cathedral ceiling, vaulted, attic wall, knee wall) and is additional insulation needed to bring up to R-38 standard.
Home Envelope: Number of doors, windows, open chases, sinks, openings between floors, recessed lights to be dammed, plumbing penetrations sealed, fan covers, etc...
HVAC Equipment: Number of units, manufacturer, COND model, EVAP model, furnace manufacturer, furnace model, age of unit, thermostat type and location.
Duct Pressure testing: Number of systems, CFM leakage, % leakage, drywall chases, plenums, boots to drywall, splitters and collars sealed with mastic.
